For context, it wasn’t the member’s own preference; he actually sought out the kind of music he wanted to do, but Pledis rejected it and pushed this other concept on him for six months. He had no real choice in the matter, it was essentially a choice between enlisting in the military or releasing that specific project before enlisting.
Why does the youngest member, a 99’er, have to promote with this concept and outfit?????
For reference, here are the album concept photos for SEVENTEEN’s recent unit releases; the units were allowed to pursue whatever music they wanted, so the reception was great in terms of both the music and the performances.
The disparity in quality is just extreme. Even the music itselfㅋㅋㅋㅋ Dino’s album even includes a trot trackㅋㅋㅋㅋ Anyone familiar with Dino’s usual musical style would be absolutely baffled.
It’s not just about the concept; despite it being a “solo album,” Dino’s name is nowhere to be found on it, and there isn’t a single solo offline event planned for him after the release. You can’t even find the songs properly when searching for “Dino” on music streaming sites. A fellow member did participate in composing, but even they mentioned that it wasn’t the kind of music Dino himself would have chosen to make. Fans just want to see and hear the music that Dino actually does.
They’re sending him off to the military two years early for the sake of the full group, yet it’s truly disheartening that this is the kind of output he’s leaving behind as his final release.
