Brooklyn resident Kate Carretta argued that deodorant is merely a waste of money, claiming that not shaving underarm hair actually reduces body odor by allowing sweat to escape, a natural defense mechanism.

Thomas McGuigan, a wellness enthusiast, also shared his perspective: “I stopped using deodorant during college after learning about the dangers of the heavy metals and toxins it contains,” he said.

“Instead of clogging my pores with chemicals, I maintain hygiene by using natural body sprays and showering frequently.”

However, the general public has reacted coolly to this trend.

 One New York-based content creator criticized the practice on social media, calling it “selfish” to seek out organic, natural deodorants during heatwaves where temperatures soar past 37 degrees Celsius. “To avoid inflicting misery on others in crowded subways and on the street,” the creator argued, “you really ought to use a proper product containing aluminum.”

Another creator also took issue with their unhygienic choices, remarking, “I have no desire to smell someone else’s underarm odor on the subway.”
