Actress Ha Young’s agency has addressed allegations that her great-grandfather was a pro-Japanese collaborator.

Ha Young’s agency, Beasters Entertainment, told SPOTV News on the 10th, “It is true that her great-grandfather was Ahn Sang Ho,” but denied the allegations circulating online that he had collaborated with the Japanese colonial government, stating that they were “completely unfounded.”

Ha Young has previously revealed on various variety shows that she comes from a four-generation family of doctors. Ahn Sang Ho is known as the first Korean to obtain a Japanese medical license. After returning to Korea, he was appointed as a court physician to Emperor Sunjong. He is also reportedly known for personally treating Emperor Gojong alongside a Japanese doctor when Gojong collapsed in 1919.
