[pann] DID BTS REALLY FLOP?

I’d seen so many posts saying BTS had flopped that I thought it was actually true

Objectively, since they haven’t done group activities for years, you’d assume most fans would leave and that there’d be almost no new fans coming in.

But I use YouTube Music, and BTS kept showing up at #1, so I looked it up, and they’re basically #1 on almost every music platform worldwide, and even on Billboard.

Seeing how hard it is to find anywhere they’re not #1 made me realize how amazing they are. It really hits you that BTS has an insane number of both haters and hardcore fansㅋ

I’ve seen a lot of posts comparing them to Gangnam Style, K/DA, and APT and saying they’ve declined, but all three are global mega-hit songs. I don’t really see the need to compare BTS to songs like those just to claim they’ve fallen off.

In my opinion, even though artists like PSY, K/DA, or Rose have mega hit songs, they haven’t been able to do world tours or album sales on BTS’s level. It makes me think there’s a difference between having a hit song and being a hitmaker as an artist.

SWIM feels a bit more boring compared to Dynamite, but maybe because it has the halo effect of being a #1 song, when I put it on my playlist and listen, it’s calm but strangely addictive, so I can see why people play it a lot

In conclusion, BTS is BTS ㅋ

They’ve hit career high in group power, streaming, album sales, tours, etc. both domestically and internationally, there’s no way they became flops ㅋㅋㅋ That’s just what antis wish for

While we’ve often seen cases like PSY, K/DA, or Rose where a single song briefly blows up and then fades (not trying to downplay them at all, it’s incredibly hard to even make one hit song), BTS is different. The group itself has become a brand, steadily growing step by step and maintaining long-term success. Even looking at global pop history, that’s extremely impressive and much harder to achieve. But the less-informed BTS haters ignore this and spend all day criticizing them for not having mega-hit songs ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Since BTS name value is so huge, their songs tend to get unfairly downplayed. Honestly, I wonder if a newly debuted group today released back-to-back hits on the level of Dynamite and Butter, would people still dismiss them the same way? ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Mega-hit songs are great but if that success doesn’t carry over to the artist and people only care about the song briefly, then it fades quickly. I think it’s far more impressive to genuinely like BTS as artists and to build such a strong global fandom
