[theqoo] CHOI WOOSIK, ‘RAC*SM AGAINST BLACK PERSON’, HEATED DEBATE.. “I MISSED YOU BEAUSE I RAN OUT OF TIME, I HOPE TO SEE YOU AGAIN” CLARIFICATION + APOLOGY
Actor Choi Woosik has issued a clarification and apology regarding unexpected allegations of discrimination against a Black fan.
On the 28th, Choi Woosik posted a statement in English on his social media account. In the post, Choi said, “I’m sorry if I missed you! I tried to sign as many autographs as I could, but time was just too short. I really hope we can meet again next time! :)”
This is a clarification regarding the earlier allegations of “passing over a Black fan. On the 26th, a Black woman posted a video on her personal social media account claiming she had been subjected to rac**l discrimination by an actor at a Paris fashion show. She explained that she had brought a poster and a sign to get an autograph from her favorite actor, but the actor did not even make eye contact with her, signed autographs only for others, and then left.
She said, “I had the worst experience at the Paris Fashion Week. I’m not the type of person who easily says, ‘This is rac*sm.’ But this time, it was just too strange. My hands are still shaking,” she said. “I didn’t go there with any expectations to begin with. Even if he hadn’t signed my items, that would have been fine. What I don’t understand is why he went out of his way to come right up to me and sign only for the other fans. I was the only Black person there,” she claimed.
