[theqoo] “INVESTMENT GENIUS” SUGA, TURNS OUT HE WAS AN EARLY INVESTOR OF ‘SPACE X’

According to an exclusive report by Edaily on the 26th, Suga is said to have invested in SpaceX through Link Asset Partners, the first Korean institutional investor to invest in the company.

A source in the investment banking (IB) industry said, “Suga was an early investor in SpaceX when it was still a private company. While the exact size of his investment has not been confirmed, he is still believed to hold SpaceX shares and has reportedly achieved an exceptional return.”

SpaceX’s valuation, which was estimated at around $46 billion in 2020, rose to about $100 billion in 2021 following additional fundraising.

On the 12th, SpaceX was listed on the New York Stock Exchange, with an IPO price of $135 per share, giving the company a market capitalization of approximately $1.77 trillion.

Because Suga is believed to have invested in SpaceX before 2022, his return is estimated to be at least 20 times his original investment, even using conservative assumptions. If he invested around 2020, his return could be as high as 40 times.

Suga, who has established himself as a producer by writing, composing, and producing many of BTS’s biggest hits, is also known for his strong investment sense. He had previously invested in the Athletics (formerly the Oakland Athletics) of Major League Baseball (MLB). At the time, that investment also drew attention as an example of investing in a high-growth private asset.

Meanwhile, SpaceX, one of the most closely watched companies in the global investment market, saw its stock surge as high as $225.64 during its first day of trading. Although the share price has since pulled back somewhat, it remains above its IPO price. As of the 26th (Korea time), the stock closed at $153.23, up 13.5% from its offering price.
