[theqoo] JOO WOOJAE “WHEN I FIRST ARRIVED IN SEOUL, THERE WASN’T MUCH TO DO ON MY PHONE”
Starting to live on his own for the first time since entering college
Joo Woojae: Still, during BIBI’s generation, you had cell phones right?
– When I entered college, I moved to Seoul
*When Woojae moved to Seoul, it was the era of 2G phones*
*The 2G phone without internet*
It was back in the days of 2G phones, so while you could use the internet, it was slow and really expensive
Joo Woojae: It was my first time away from home and there was nothing I could do
Joo Woojae: And there were about 2~3 weeks left before graduation
– I mustered my courage and went sightseeing in Seoul
– But since it’s my first time in Seoul, I was worried I might get lost…
He just kept going back and forth, trying to memorize the streets of Seoul.
If he didn’t memorize them, he wouldn’t be able to find his way back.
Back then, in 2006, with a 2G phone
Seriously, these days I just spend all my time watching Shorts on Netflix and hanging out,
but I can’t even remember what I used to do for fun back in the day ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
original post: here
1. Wow… I seriously went around Myeongdong back in the days and memorized all the streetsㅋㅋㅋㅋ
2. I’d look up directions on my computer beforehand, then take photos with my phone, and since my phone had the subway map, I used that to get around while I was out having fun
3. When I went far away, I’d take a map with me and ask people for directions along the way
4. Hul it was like that…….. So, if you go to some remote place where there’s literally no one around, what do you actually do…??
5. I always made sure to keep a tight grip on that information sheet with the subway map on it
6. Wow, seriously, I could search my route ahead on the internet, write down the bus numbers and I even drew a map and carried it around…
7. Wow, I can’t remember how I used to find my way around before smartphones. I think I might have carried around a paper subway map
8. Print it out in advance or just ask people, it’s actually an era of forced communication
9. Back in 2006, we had DMB and Nate, and cameras were already in the color eraㅋㅋㅋ 2G was still the mainstream, but 3G had already come outㅋㅋ
10. But honestly, if I’d started living on my own in Seoul back then, I can’t even imagine how I would’ve managed
