Swiss watch brand Mido lost the lawsuit it filed against Gold Medalist, the agency representing actor Kim Soohyun, seeking the return of an advertising contract fee.

According to reporting by Star News on the 27th, the 13th Civil Division of the Seoul Eastern District Court dismissed the plaintiff’s claim in the lawsuit filed by Mido against Gold Medalist for the return of a contract fee amounting to approximately 570 million won.

Mido had previously signed an advertising contract with Kim Soohyun in 2020 and renewed it annually. Although the company extended the contract for one year in November 2024, paying a fee of 900 million won, it subsequently terminated the agreement and filed a lawsuit demanding the return of the fee corresponding to the remaining contract period after a scandal involving Kim Soohyun emerged. Mido argued that the contract fee should be refunded on a pro-rata basis, given that the agreement was terminated due to damage to the model’s commercial value. In contrast, Gold Medalist countered that the controversy stemmed from fabricated, false allegations made by a third party and did not result from any culpable conduct by the model himself.

The court did not accept Mido’s arguments. It reportedly dismissed Mido’s claim, ruling that the grounds for contract termination were not met.
