He took a wedding photo in Korea to commemorate living in Korea

He was quietly famous for having a Buddhist scripture, possibly the Heart Sutra, tattooed on him. Then, at some point, he publicly revealed that he was of Korean descent, and additional tattoos were added.

He was born to a Korean father from Jeju Island and a Japanese mother, but they reportedly divorced during his childhood. He grew up under his mother’s care and apparently had little contact with his father. 

However, after becoming a parent himself, he reconnected with his father, and through some incident, he acknowledged and publicly announced his ancestry. Although his nationality is Japanese, he uses the middle name Lee in English-speaking countries and lives openly. Seeing that his wife and children also use Lee, it seems he might be using multiple surnames.

Anyway, he has two daughters and one son. It seems the kids mostly live in the US, but he appears to be raising them by traveling back and forth between Korea and Japan. The two daughters are K-pop fans, and the eldest daughter seems to be learning to dance, even attending a dance school in Korea. (She frequently posts pictures of her life in Korea on Instagram.)
