 Association Between Consumption of Low- and No-Calorie Artificial Sweeteners and Cognitive Decline: An 8-Year Prospective Study

Key findings

– Participants in the highest sweetener-consumption group experienced an overall rate of cognitive decline that was approximately 62% faster than those in the lowest-consumption group. This difference was estimated to be equivalent to about 1.6 additional years of brain aging. The association was stronger among adults under 60 years of age and among people with diabetes.
