As of the 9th, a search for “X” on Google Play Store, Google’s app marketplace, displays the age rating “Not suitable for MN” alongside the number 19, which indicates “Not suitable for users under 19.”
Below the age rating, “Intense violence” and “User interaction and in-app purchases” are listed. These are presumed to be the reasons for the rating.
According to the Google Play Store’s age rating policy, the authority and responsibility for assigning ratings lie with the app developer and the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC).
Through this rating policy, Google alerts users that the app may contain objectionable content and blocks or filters content for specific regions or users.
According to Google, if requested by the app developer, the age rating applied when the app was first registered in the app store may be adjusted following a subsequent review. However, Google does not directly determine the age ratings within the Play Store.
Although the exact reason for the adjustment to X’s age rating has not been disclosed, it is believed to be a measure taken in response to the unchecked exposure of highly explicit and violent content within the app. Previously, “Grok,” the AI chatbot provided by X, sparked controversy by generating and distributing s****l *xpl**t*t**n material and non-consensual s****l images.
In response, the European Commission launched an investigation in January into whether X was in violation of the Digital Services Act (DSA), and that same month, the Korea Communications Commission also requested that X implement safety measures to protect minors.

10. It’s true that there’s no filtering system in place. You can limit your searches but things would still get recommended to you in the ‘recommended’ tab
